Making touchless interfaces work for older adults

I'm Adeola, a final-year Computer Science student at Nile University of Nigeria. For my thesis I built a webcam-only hand-gesture system that controls a computer with a mean latency of 35 ms.

I'm applying for thesis-based MSc programmes in human-computer interaction for Fall 2027, to study how older adults perceive on-screen feedback and remember gestural interfaces.

Areas of interest

Perception

How older adults read on-screen feedback, such as a volume bar, and what makes it quick and clear to see.

Memory

Whether gestures people define themselves are easier to remember a day later than gestures chosen for them.

HCI in Nigeria

Helping build HCI research in Nigeria, where older adults rarely take part in studies.
